Below are some work-based learning opportunities from various fields that students might be interested in.
Bear in mind that this list is not exhaustive and may be updated as new opportunities emerge.
Before you apply, make sure you check out the minimum age requirement in every specific opportunity as well as the deadlines, since they do vary.
Make sure you communicate with the WBL Coordinator when you decide to apply for an internship.
Make sure you give 3 weeks to your WBL Coordinator before you can start your internship. Here’s why:
- The WBL Coordinator will communicate with the organization prior to your experience. The Coordinator will visit the worksite before you can begin, to see if everything is set and safe for you. The Coordinator needs to make sure your supervisors have their backgrounds cleared.
- The Coordinator needs to complete the documentation required by the Department of Education. For example, to make sure the internship experience is as efficient and educating for you as possible, the Coordinator will arrange a meeting with you and your employer host to make sure expectations are known and designate a learning plan for you. These take time, so please be as cooperative and proactive as you can.
If you are interested in a work-based learning experience, please fill out this application form first to inform the WBL Coordinator of your interest.
